Gareth Andrews, (who has been training at Joe’s Basecamp to complete his dream of crossing the Greenland ice-cap) has arrived in Greenland at the port of Tasiilaq
(used to be called Ammassalik and Angmagssalik, This is a town in the Sermersooq municipality in southeastern Greenland. It has a population of 2017 making it the largest community on the eastern coast, and the seventh-largest town in Greenland.
He is currently preparing for his adventure with his team mates as they get ready for their undertaking.
His messages will be short bulletins due to communications limitations.
First message:
In Tasiilaq, all well, ski training and packing pulks. Helicopter to ice sheet tomorrow. Clear skies here, warm -1 degrees. Concerned about warm temps West Coast.
Maybe melt rivers / lakes on West Coast. Otherwise very positive, excited to get underway. Missing all at home. No bears yet but plenty of icebergs
