18 Nov North Annapurna 2010 – Join in on Sir Chris Bonington's 50th Anniversary Trek
A truly once in a lifetime experience. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of legendary mountaineer Sir Chris Bonington first foray into the Himalaya and Asia, we have put together a unique trek. This is your chance to share in an amazing experience to trek to North Annapurna via Tilicho with world-renowned mountaineer, Sir Chris Bonington.
North Annapurna via Tilicho with Sir Chris Bonington
Chris Bonington made the first ascent of Annapurna II (7937 metres) in 1960 with the Nepalese, Indian, British Combined Services expedition. They also were probably the first foreigners to make the Annapurna Circuit, but they started their trek from Kathmandu ending at Pokhara. In 1960 there was only one motor road in the whole of Nepal from the Nepalese Indian frontier into Kathmandu!!
Fifty years on, this will be a nostalgic journey for Chris in which he will enjoy sharing with his fellow trekkers his memories and the many changes that have taken place over those years.
Chris has changed the initial part of the journey to have a wonderful look at the south side of the Annapurna Chain from a Rhododendron forested ridge that is very rarely trekked, finishing with a high pass and the possibility of an easy peak with spectacular views.
This is going to be a reasonably tough and strenuous trek so you need a good level of fitness to keep up with a 75 year old!!!
